World of Warcraft (Part II)
During my initial tour of World of Warcraft, it was the game's Associate Designer, Jeff Kaplan, who had control of the keyboard and mouse. He was using his own characters to take me around the different lands of Azeroth as he explained the ins and outs of the game's content, item, and quest systems. Thank goodness I had my trusty digital voice recorder with me, because I'd never have been able to remember any of it. Put simply, even while Kaplan was regaling me with the wonders to come, all I wanted to do was get my hands on the game and actually play.

Thesa Online Review at WarCry.com
Thesa is a game that both surprises and disappoints. Built to run in China, the requirements are quite minimal. 466Mhz Celeron, 64MB RAM, Windows 98, Direct X 8.1and to run on dial-up! It's 2-dimensional framework, so-so UI, and horrible audio effects belay a game with rich gameplay.

Review Profile: Anarchy Online: Shadowlands
Back in April of 2001, I was addicted to a little known game called Everquest. I played it non-stop, even called in sick to work just to play it. A friend of mine asked to check out this new game called Anarchy Online that had just reached beta test. After signing up and getting into the beta, I gradually realized that I was no longer addicted to Everquest and found all my spare time was being used to immerse myself into the science fiction world of nanos, implants, and a travel system known as the grid. The story line, dynamic missions created just for me or my team, new and wonderful looking creatures, areas that were absolutely beautiful and a soundtrack that could not be matched by any current game out at the time was enough to make me cancel my Everquest account and start playing Anarchy Online at release.

Mythica HQ Editorials - Swordplay
So from all of this we can see that swords have a safe place in the game of Mythica. Besides we've seen very impressive images of a scimitar, Dwarf sword, two handed sword and a 'Gauntlet' sword; and screenshots of both male and female warriors using it against not quite so impressive Huldrefolk. It looks good so far. But the effectiveness of the sword as a melee weapon depends on far more than the weapon itself. As any competent swordsman knows, the use of a sword in combat requires another skill, equally as important. Grappling.

RPGDot 2003 Awards: Biggest MMORPG Disappointment

Anonymity in Middle-Earth Online
Balancing realism and fun game-play is one of the greatest challenges in game development. The right amount of realism can immerse players in the game experience, and give them a more enjoyable experience. On the other hand, too much realism can quickly become boring. After all, who wants to play a simulation of the same boring things we play games to escape? Our job as developers is to factor in both concerns and achieve a balance that is fun and immerse. This month we’re proud to announce a feature for MEO that we think achieves this balance perfectly.

RPGDot 2003 Awards: Best Atmosphere in an MMORPG
Every good game has an atmosphere in which the player feels comfortable and in which the player almost can feel that he or she is part of the experience. A game can have stunning graphics or awesome sound, but without a decent atmosphere it won't last very long. And here are the games which are known to give this experience.

Mythica Editorial: On Computer and Tabletop RPGs
I love computer games. I cut my teeth on the original Wizardry and Ultima games back on my Apple II+ (and that's ignoring "Adventure" and "Earthworld" and similar Atari titles...) I loved the Bard's Tale. I was at one time a Diablo II junkie and currently I am caught up in Gothic 2. It puzzles me, though, to hear people referring to these games as "roleplaying games" and comparing roleplaying in computer games (cRPGS) to tabletop roleplaying games (tRPGs) such as Dungeons and Dragons, or Vampire: the Masquerade. Roleplaying in a computer game? Yeah, right...kind of like crying in baseball.

Factories are useful, efficient structures that can be used by any character who makes items for sale. If it can be crafted, it can be made in a factory. Factories allow you to free up time you'd otherwise spend grinding out products by hand. While your factory is busy producing items for you, you can be doing something else.
